2020/06/12 I want to create images which can be run in docker. As I know the following commands are not creating the images in my server. Dockerfile should be FROM ubuntu:14.04.5 ADD file. CMD your command in terminal Which I am going to specify in Dockerfile. RUN apt-get update RUN apt-get install -y openssl libssl-dev build-essential libpcap-dev RUN apt-get -y update && apt-get -y upgrade && apt-get -y install curl git wget tarfile RUN curl -sL | bash – && apt-get install -y nodejs I don’t know whether these commands are also required to create Dockerfile or not. Kindly elaborate the correct way of doing the images in a server. Any suggestions appreciated. A: Welcome to Stack Overflow. The Dockerfile is a template for building an image. Once you have one you can build more images from it. So you need to create your Dockerfile first. It will depend what you want to do. You need these lines to install the OS and essential packages to run containers. You need to install dependencies if you want to package something, or run a program that needs it. You usually want to create an image for each container, unless you only need to run one container. If you are new to Docker, I would suggest getting the Docker Desktop. It is easy to use and will create an image for you. If you need more custom image creation experience, you could try Google Cloud to get a free account and run your containers there.
